Bluegrass Harmony was founded in September 2012 by a group of eight women – all seasoned and experienced barbershop singers. Their goal was to build a new chorus focused on musical excellence and to provide a fun, safe environment that empowers its members to learn, grow and build life-long friendships along the way.
The chorus made its public debut performing in the community at Christmastime and word quickly spread. Since then, Bluegrass Harmony has entertained audiences at a variety of functions, including: the annual conference of the Kentucky Association of School Business Officials, Shelbyville "Taste and Tunes" Festival, the opening of the University of Louisville baseball game, the Frankfort Avenue Trolley Hop, and the Middletown Family Fun Fest. Additionally, Bluegrass Harmony was one of five finalists at radio WXMA 102.3 (The Max’s) search for the ‘Best Choir in Kentuckiana.’ On October 14, 2015, Bluegrass Harmony received their much-anticipated charter from Harmony, Inc., an International Women's Barbershop Organization. Since receiving their charter, Bluegrass Harmony has not looked back. The chorus has won several awards, and qualified for International every time they have competed at Area.
